Dorstener Drahtwerke Group reports further Growth in the U.S.

With the purchase of the remaining shares of the U.S. company Mount Joy Wire, the family-owned WCJ Pilgrim Wire of York, Pennsylvania, recently completed the strategic acquisition of another renowned manufacturer of wire products for the German Dorstener Drahtwerke Group.

Founded in 1991, Mount Joy Wire operates a production facility covering an area of approximately 20,400 square meters and employs about 120 people. Over decades of business operations, the company has earned an excellent reputation in the U.S. market with a broad portfolio of special wire products. It will retain its management structure, operational focus, and customer relationships, thereby ensuring the necessary stability for customers and suppliers. This approach also promotes continued investment in employees, technology, and manufacturing capacity, with a clear focus on quality, service, and on-time delivery.

With the acquisition of Mount Joy Wire by its subsidiary WCJ, the Dorstener Drahtwerke Group is expanding its production capacities in the areas of steel and specialty wires and gaining additional market share in North America. The acquisition was part of the Group’s long-term strategy; in recent years, the Group has acquired stakes in several international companies to diversify its product portfolio and open up new markets. In this particular case, for example, the investment will enable WCJ Pilgrim Wire to expand its overall product offering with valuable expertise in the field of high-carbon wires, with the clear goal of continuing and strengthening operations at the Mount Joy facility with the existing team of highly qualified and motivated employees. WCJ itself has a growing network of production and distribution centers in the United States, which will generate further synergies in the future.

“Mount Joy Wire is a leading supplier of specialty wires and has been successfully operating in the U.S. market for over 20 years. This fact, combined with its structure as a values-based family business, makes Mount Joy Wire the perfect choice for us as a family-run group as well,” explained Paul Tüshaus, co-managing director of Dorstener Drahtwerke. “We expect this new acquisition in the U.S. to generate benefits that are equally advantageous for all parties involved—for the Group’s globally active companies, which will benefit from shared expertise and access to new markets; for the U.S. subsidiaries, which will be able to align their capacities and product portfolios; and for customers, who can expect increased availability at prices that remain in line with market conditions.”
