Technology as the key to operational readiness

Elbit Systems Deutschland showcases innovations at the AFCEA trade exhibition

Ulm, Germany, 29.04.2025 – At the AFCEA trade exhibition, one of the most important German industry events in the context of military communications technology, sensor technology and cyber capabilities, companies such as Elbit Systems Deutschland will once again be presenting some of their most exciting new developments alongside their proven, already established systems in 2025.

The Ulm-based competence center for HF and VHF radio systems will be showcasing SmarTrack, a state-of-the-art system for precise blue force tracking of dismounted units in environments where GNSS is not available or is jammed by friendly or enemy forces. SmarTrack determines the position of up to 100 members of your own unit in real time and provides the soldiers with the position data as a clear image. SmarTrack also supports the navigation of the unit and offers the option of sharing information via radio data transmission. At the AFCEA trade exhibition, Elbit Systems Deutschland will also be presenting a useful addition to this in the form of the independent, interference-resistant iSNS – immune satellite navigation system, which aims to effectively ensure uninterrupted GPS receiver operation.

Another system at the stand of the southern German company is the portable version of the drone defense system ReDrone™ – a lightweight Portable Detection and Jamming System. This device, barely larger than a soldier's radio, creates an electromagnetic dome of up to 1,000 m in diameter around the carrier, within these range the control signals of drones are effectively jammed. This means that even a larger infantry unit in motion can be protected from remote-controlled threats for many hours before the standard batteries of the handheld device need to be replaced.

These technical highlights, of which the Portable ReDrone™ configuration will even be presented for the first time in Germany at the AFCEA trade exhibition, will be complemented by various tried-and-tested solutions, some of which have already been introduced to the German Armed Forces, which also await trade visitors at stand F23 in the WCC Bonn.
